In the period between the two wars, many Faleronesi citizens emigrated, especially to Argentina, in search of fortune.
Considering the fact that many of them, with Italian origins, have applied for Italian citizenship, the Municipality of Falerone on the occasion of the “2024 – Year of Italian roots in the world” wants to raise awareness in the local community on the issue of Italian emigration with the program of The Roots of Our History: of the journeys of the roots and re-establish interpersonal relationships now lost with emigrants.
To this end, it intends to establish initiatives to strengthen the link with the Italian communities abroad, thus allowing Italian-descendants in the world to deepen their knowledge of their culture of origin.
A representation of a cross-section of peasant life of the period concerned will be set up at the “Beato Pellegrino” Theater from which traditional costumes of the period, everyday objects and dialogues in dialect will be staged.
Also within this show, a folk group will brighten up the evening with the sound of the accordion and the singing of stornelli.
Other collateral events will be: the organization of a photographic exhibition and a collection of photos from the period between the two wars where someone can recognize themselves or see their family members.
At Piazza della Concordia, the old crafts will be organized and women in costume of the time will demonstrate the ancient art of the “straw braid”, a technique at the base of the production of the hat.
You cannot miss the tasting of typical products (“Lu Serpe” and the “Piantone di Falerone” oil), DE.C.O. products that are originally from our territory.
