The historical re-enactment called La Presa di Cossignano A.D. 1370 is an event that takes place in the medieval village and evokes the historical events that involved the territory of Cossignano in the fourteenth century, located in the middle position between the Picene March and the potentate of Fermo, subject to the ferocious attacks and conquests of one or the other invader.

In the year 1370 the land of Cossignano was besieged by the mercenary captain Boffo da Massa and there were numerous heroic gestures of the inhabitants, from which the motto ferax et ferox reported in the municipal coat of arms derives.

The historical re-enactment was born with the intention of contextualizing the episode of courage and ancient virtue, a heritage of shared memory: the story of the lord of the castle of Cossignano Ser Rinaldo Balduzi and his wife Donna Orgilla Mucciarelli.
The story that combines history, love and tragedy tells the epic deeds of the spouses who together fought to the end against the invading tyrant; these heroic characters resisted the invader and legend tells of the extreme gesture of the castellana to heroically throw herself from the window of her home or from the ancient keep, a stronghold of the town now a panoramic terrace, to escape the perfidious Boffo da Massa.

The event reproduces the historical-legendary episodes through the organization of a series of initiatives in the village that for a weekend becomes a scenic theater of medieval life: the entire historic center (streets, squares, alleys, halls and cellars, balconies and loggias, castle walls) is set up for the staging of medieval shows with prominent artists and companies, with the participation of the local community in the role of extras, with the partnership of local associations for the realization of collateral activities.

The proposed result is that of an event that is characterized by its uniqueness, as the historical-legendary tradition is contaminated with elements of the contemporary and makes it externally recognizable for the facts narrated, for its diffusion on the provincial and regional territory for twenty years, as well as for its quality and innovation.
