Return Festival to Borgo Pace. Once upon a time... A journey to rediscover one's roots

Coinciding with the traditional Red Potato Festival of Sompiano, which traditionally takes place on the last weekend of August, the Municipality of Borgo Pace is preparing to celebrate a long-awaited event
as exciting: the Feast of the Return to the Roots.

A day dedicated to tradition, history and local culinary delights, in the name of the joy of being together, in which Borgo Pace and its community will welcome the return of all those who have
left their land for other regions or countries.

A party in which it will be possible to participate both in person and remotely all over the world in some of its parts, also in collaboration with the associations of Italians abroad that include Borgopacesi of origin.

A welcome ceremony will open the day, in which to recognize the present and non-present Italo-descendants, who return to their roots after generations of distance, followed by a visit to discover the treasures of Borgo Pace, such as the Benedictine Abbey of S. Michele Arcangelo and Museum of Natural Colors and a visit to the House of Writing, inside which it is possible to visit the Museum of Writing and the permanent photographic exhibition of the Charcoal Burner.

In collaboration with the Museum of Natural Colors of the hamlet of Lamoli, a workshop on woad and other natural colors will be organized, to learn about the nature of plant color, the cultivation of plants
dyeing, color extraction and the use of pigments in possible fields of use.

To conclude, an evocative “Community” dinner based on typical local dishes (Crostolo, red potato gnocchi, grilled meat, roast potatoes, donuts) and the evening will be enlivened by a Popular Folk orchestra
with the opportunity to dance and sing the real music of the Italian tradition.

In parallel with the holiday, a competition will be organized among emigrants for the best story that goes to remember their family of origin from the departure from Borgo Pace to today, with subsequent award ceremony
final on a date to be defined.

It will be an unforgettable moment of reunion and celebration, in which life experiences will intertwine, creating indelible and precious bonds.
A tribute to the strength of family and community ties, which resist the passage of time and distance.
