The theatrical show “Ithaca.
Tales of forgotten exoduses from the Marche region
” is focused on the exodus of Italians to America (1876-1976): the narrative focuses on real stories and testimonies of emigrants from the Marche region in the Macerata and Ancona area through letters to families, oral stories, articles from foreign newspapers, period films and music from the Marche folk repertoire.

These stories have been collected over decades by Marco Moroni, Full Professor of Economic History at the Polytechnic University of Marche.
“Itaca” has the patronage of the Museum of Marche Emigration (MEMA) in the person of the Director Luigi Petruzzellis.
Live music will be performed by Maestro Diego Trivellini, accordionist from Fabriano.

How to get there

BY CAR - from Macerata: provincial road Septempedana SP361 eastbound towards Montefano. Follow the signs for the city centre and Piazza Bracaccini, which are easily reachable on foot; - from Ancona: SS16 for a stretch, then continue on the provincial road Septempedana SP361 towards Montefano. Once in the city, the square is well signposted and easily accessible on foot. BY TRAIN - arrival at Macerata railway station, then continue northbound by local public transport Contram Mobilità (or taxi); - arrival at Ancona Centrale railway station, then continue southbound by local public transport Contram Mobilità (or taxi).
