“The photo in the drawer.
At the roots ” is a permanent photographic exhibition set up at the Ghergo Museum, in collaboration with the Museum of Marche Emigration (MEMA) in Recanati.
The collection consists of photographic material sent by Marche people abroad and Italian-descendants, together with the organization of a digital workstation for consultation.
The exhibition is an innovative appendix of the already known and launched event “The photo in the drawer”, promoted by the Cultural Association “Effetto Ghergo”: from year to year an important archive of vintage images of the Montefano area and its inhabitants grows, which manifests itself with a temporary exhibition open to citizens in the months of December and January, in which they are invited to bring their own family photos, contributing to the reconstruction of a history in images of the Borgo.
“The photo in the drawer”, together with the other photographic initiatives of Effetto Ghergo, has obtained the patronage of the Municipality of Montefano, the Marche Region, the Cassa di Risparmio di Macerata CARIMA Foundation, the Ghergo Museum.

How to get there
BY CAR - from Macerata: provincial road Septempedana SP361 eastbound towards Montefano. Follow the signs for the city centre and Piazza Bracaccini, which are easily reachable on foot; - from Ancona: SS16 for a stretch, then continue on the provincial road Septempedana SP361 towards Montefano. Once in the city, the square is well signposted and easily accessible on foot. BY TRAIN - arrival at Macerata railway station, then continue northbound by extra-urban public transport Contram Mobilità (or taxi); - arrival at Ancona Centrale railway station, then continue southbound by Contram Mobilità suburban public transport (or taxi).
